Take an Inside Look at Rowing Blazers NYC Pop-Up Store

Visit the original post to see all 26 images from this gallery.

NYC-based menswear brand Rowing Blazers is opening a three-month pop-up shop in New York City. Located on the corner of Grand and Centre in Little Italy/Soho, the 2500 square foot space, which is the former site of menswear store Odin, will have will have a clubhouse vibe. Think mahogany foosball tables, a vintage Coke vending machine, comfy couches, and art installations by New York Sunshine and Drawbertson.

In addition to a plethora of Rowing Blazers’ gear including blazers, rugbies, oxfords, polos and dad hats, limited edition collaborations, a rotating lineup of brands will be released weekly at the store, like streetwear brand Eric Emanuel. Like Rowling Blazers, Eric Emanuel is a diehard Made-in-New York brand inspired by vintage sportswear. Their retro basketball shorts are seen on the likes of Post Malone, Kevin Hart, and Justin Bieber.

“I love that part of the city: the nexus of Soho, Nolita, and Little Italy, said Rowing Blazers founder Jack Carlson. I love the nexus of brands in that area too.” “We’re a made-in-NYC brand, so it was so nice connecting with the community directly. And with products like blazers, people still love to try them on, touch them, see them, feel them, in person before they buy.”

“I’m excited to have Eric Emanuel joining us in the space for the first month. Eric comes from a totally different world — basketball, hip hop, street. But in a weird way, we completely share the same ethos. We literally make our blazers directly across the street from where he makes his basketball shorts. And he’s a streetwear guy who dresses and talks preppy sometimes, and I’m an Oxford guy who wears vintage Celtics and Hoyas gear and reads streetwear blogs, so we became fast friends. And when we secured this amazing space at Grand and Centre, Eric was the first person I called.”

The pop-up will run from June 15th through September 15th at 221 Centre St. and 161 Grand St in NYC. Take an inside look at the shop in the gallery above.

New Report Shows Women Are Choosing Sneakers Over High Heels

Nike is already changing the future of women’s footwear with its Unlaced initiative, and according to Business Insider, women are now choosing sneakers over heels, as sales of high heels have declined dramatically.

Online resale platform ThredUp, recently released data that showed the company had seen a 38% increase in “heel purges” in the last three months, while sneaker sales were up 46% in the same period.

Erin Wallace, brand director at ThredUp, wrote in a blog post, “Our data demonstrates that athleisure is certainly a prevailing trend as women seek out more casual, comfortable footwear.”

A recent report by NDP Group’s sports industry analyst Matt Powell, also revealed that sport lifestyle, specifically athletic footwear, continued to grow for Nike and adidas, as well as skate improving by more than forty percent, all thanks to the athleisure trend driving those categories.

In addition, NPD Group’s Retail Tracking Service revealed that sales of high heels declined by 11% in the United States in 2017, while women’s sneaker sales went up 37% in the same period.

Furthermore, The New York Times speculates that the decline in sales of high heels may be linked to the #MeToo era and reports of sexual harassment, as women are now choosing to dress for themselves, rather than being sexually appealing to men.

For the full story, head on over to Business Insider.
