Levi van Veluw, Dutch artist born in 1985, is a polyhedric artist artist that we already featured many years ago on Socks. Working on a multiple media including photography, videos, installation, sculpture, and drawings he has created a vast an important body of work on the subject of order, structure and chaos.

Featured here is a collection of charcoal drawings from the work ‘The Collapse of the Cohesion’, an ensemble consisting also of a series of photographs, films, an installation. The work is a study of chaos generated by the action of gravity on objects. The artist explores the new logic and the compositional equilibrium generated after the falling, the collapse and the explosion of various elements out of his own boyhood bedroom.

Human structures are affected by forces of nature such as gravity, water and wind and in this way realigned into a new, natural order of things. Although these works play on our fascination for destruction and need for disorder, they do possess an inherent compositional equilibrium. The physics of falling objects has a logic that is bound by rules.
